Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

AVPlayer does not collect or store any personal information. We do not require your name, email address, location, or mobile number to use the application.

The following data is generated and saved locally on your device's sandbox memory only and is never sent to our servers:

• Index database of local music and video paths
• Playlists, favorites list, and recently played items
• Private Vault settings (hashed 4-digit PIN and hidden media IDs)
• App settings (equalizer bands, sleep timer countdowns, and crossfade preferences)
• Weekly playback listening statistics (accumulated seconds and genre metrics)

This metadata is stored securely in React Native local storage (AsyncStorage/Zustand database) and is completely erased when you uninstall the app or clear the app data from device settings.

2. Device Permissions We Request

To enable offline audio/video playback and equalizer controls, AVPlayer requests access to specific device capabilities. These permissions are only processed locally:

• Storage / Photos & Videos (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Required to scan, index, and load local music and video files stored on your phone.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required to display the background audio notification controller (enabling play, pause, and skip commands from your lock screen).
• Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN): Required to detect active connection changes on your Bluetooth headphones or speakers for smooth audio routing.
• Audio Settings (MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS): Required to communicate with Android's system audio engine to apply custom Equalizer, Bass Boost, and Virtualizer settings.

You can manage and revoke these permissions at any time through your Android system settings page.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

AVPlayer is a free-to-use application supported by advertisements. We use Google AdMob to load and show banner ads. Google AdMob may process certain anonymous device markers, including:

• Device advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
• IP address (solely for country-level general location context)
• Device brand, model, and OS version
• Ad interaction metrics (e.g. click counts)

We restrict AdMob data utilization by configuring it to fetch non-personalized ads only, minimizing ad-targeting data profiles.

To opt out of ad personalization on your Android device:
Go to Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization (or "Reset advertising ID").

4. Data Sharing and Transfer

We do not sell, trade, or transfer any user data. The app is completely offline. The only third-party component is Google AdMob, which operates under Google's secure compliance guidelines as detailed in Section 3.

5. Children's Privacy

AVPlayer does not collect any personal information, making it safe for all age groups. We do not knowingly target or harvest data from children under 13 years of age.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time to align with new OS updates or features. The "Last updated" date at the top will indicate when changes were made. Continued use of the app implies approval of the updated policy terms.
